Early arrival pROGRAM

Our sessions range from financial to academic touching upon all aspects of college

Financial Literacy

The Financial Literacy Workshop empowers students with essential skills for financial independence and money management in college. We cover a range of important topics, including understanding and responsibly using credit cards, basic investing principles, finding and applying for scholarships, and practical money-saving strategies as a student.

Professional Development

In collaboration with Northeastern Professional Leadership and Career Equity (NU PLACE), PODER students engage in career development and experiential learning. The workshop focuses on setting attainable goals and creating actionable steps to ensure success in future hiring opportunities.

Global experiences

In collaboration with the Global Experience Office (GEO), PODER students were given an early introduction to the various abroad experiences available at Northeastern.

Student life

Northeastern has over 400 clubs and organizations! Here we discuss how to get the most out of NU student life, finding work-life balance, and activities in Boston.

First generation

Designed to explore the first-generation student identity, this workshop offers students the opportunity to cultivate confidence in their unique identities to prepare them for success through guided discussions and resource sharing.

Wellness

Establishing healthy wellness strategies play an important role in how students transition into Northeastern. Previous campus partner collaborations include guided meditation with the Center for Spirituality, Dialogue, and Service (CSDS); a visit from community resource dogs from the Northeastern Police Department (NUPD) Community Engagement Unit; and resources from Northeastern University Health and Counseling (UHCS).

Social

Our Social events focus on exploring Boston and getting to know their new home for the next four years. Some of our past social events included duck tours, dinner in Chinatown or an East Boston food tour. Our goal is to create a community, or familia where students feel welcome and supported through their transition to college.
